What is multi-location hosting?

Multi-location hosting (also called multi-region, geo-distributed or multi-datacenter hosting) means deploying copies of your application or data across more than one physical datacenter — usually in different countries or continents. The goal is twofold: lower latency for users wherever they are, and fault tolerance when something — a power outage, a natural disaster, a regulator’s decision — takes a single region offline.

In practice you might run your primary database in Frankfurt, a read replica in Singapore, your web frontends in Istanbul and New Jersey, and a cold backup in Mexico City. With one provider, one panel and one bill — instead of stitching together three cloud vendors and paying for cross-cloud egress.

It also unlocks data residency compliance: GDPR-bound users get a Frankfurt VPS, Turkish KVKK users get Istanbul, Japanese APPI users get Tokyo — all without operational complexity. Our control panel treats every region identically, so the only difference between launching in London vs. Seoul is which dropdown you click.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move a VPS from one region to another later?

Yes. We provide one-click live migration between any two regions with under 60 seconds of downtime, using our cross-region snapshot system. There’s no migration fee — you just start being billed by the new region’s price from the moment migration completes.

Why do some regions cost more than others?

We price each region based on its true infrastructure cost: power, transit, real estate and local taxes. North American and Pacific regions carry higher base costs than Europe or MENA. Istanbul remains our lowest-priced region because it’s our own facility. Every region includes the same 1 Gbps uplink and 99.99% SLA regardless of price.

Is data replicated across regions automatically?

No — and that’s intentional, for GDPR / KVKK reasons. We provide the infrastructure (cross-region private network, encrypted backbone, snapshot replication) for you to opt in to multi-region replication where you want it. You stay in control of where which data lives.

Do you bill traffic between my own regions?

Inter-region traffic between your own Hostiger VPS instances is free up to 1 TB / VPS / month over our private backbone. Beyond that it’s billed at $0.005/GB — about 1/40th of what hyperscalers charge for the same egress.

Is Istanbul really 5 ms from Turkish users?

For users on major ISPs (Türk Telekom, Vodafone, Turkcell, Superonline) inside greater İstanbul and Ankara, yes — typically 3–8 ms. Users in Eastern Anatolia see 15–25 ms, still far better than Frankfurt’s 35–45 ms. Run our looking glass at any region to test from your own connection.

Can I get a static IP per region?

Every VPS gets at least one dedicated IPv4 included. Additional IPv4 addresses are $2/mo each (subject to ARIN/RIPE/APNIC justification). Every region also provides a free /64 IPv6 block.

Which regions support Forex / low-latency trading?

London (LD4 proximity for FX brokers), New Jersey (NYSE/NASDAQ matching engines), Chicago (CME/CBOT), Frankfurt (Eurex), Tokyo (TSE) and Singapore (SGX) all carry low-latency routes to the major matching engines. See our dedicated Forex VPS page for broker-specific guidance.
